The 61st Lefkas International Folklore Festival is coming back this year in full swing to excite the lovers of the authentic folklore of the people of the world. International entries from Asia, Europe and Latin America along with national entries from Northern Greece join the local cultural associations, dance schools, the Philharmonic Society of Lefkada and organized groups of volunteers to compose this year’s folklore mosaic of this August.
In addition to the spectacular performances at the Open Theater, the festival program includes a multitude of original events throughout the city, in the villages of the Municipal Units and on the islands of Kalamos, Kastos and Meganisi.
Thus, local and foreign visitors will have the opportunity to see street performances, participate in dance workshops, taste national cuisines, attend seminars and have fun with the participants of the Festival, experiencing in real time the joy of Peace and Solidarity of the People in world that is constantly being tested.
The Cultural Center of the Municipality of Lefkada continues to upgrade the Festival -offering hospitality in hotel accommodations- and the preparations are ongoing for the grand opening of the New Open Air Theater of Lefkada, which will become «the permanent home» of the Lefkas International Folklore Festival.
