Parahyangan Catholic University or UNPAR is a private university based in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Being one of the best and oldest private universities in Indonesia, UNPAR has 8 faculties and 16 study programs.
Besides being academically inclined, UNPAR also supports its students in the non-academic fields by providing students activity units, such as “LISTRA”
Lingkung Seni Traditional which is a student activity unit that
revolves around Indonesia’s traditional folk music and dances.
Established in 1970, LISTRA acts as a host for UNPAR students to get to know, study and participate in the preservation of Indonesia’s traditional culture. Since then, LISTRA UNPAR has developed better and gotten
many achievements from art shows, performance in many events, and national competitions.
Other than performing in various gigs, LISTRA has a few work programs which include Festival Tradtional (FESTRA), a folklore competition on a provincial level in which LISTRA organizes annually. Other annual programs are Wajah Nusantara, an open-for-public stage production which includes dance and music recital of Indonesian traditional tales and Malam
Inaugurasi (Inauguration Night) which is a small event that showcases the debut performances of LISTRA’s new members.
Αpart from that, as the realization of our mission to preserve as well as represent Indonesian art on a global scale, LISTRA holds another program called the LISTRA UNPAR Cultural Mission program, where a team of delegates present to participate in international folklore festivals or competitions.
Since 2012, LISTRA has performed in the Philippines, Turkey, Poland, Greece, and Thailand. This year would mark the 8th time of this program. Having joined the 56th Lefkas International Folklore Festival in 2018, this year would be the 2nd time LISTRA UNPAR performs in Lefkas International Folklore Festival.
